Payment Plans - Answers

We will not consider a debt of less than $500 for a formal payment plan. However, you can submit your monthly payments to pay off your debt to:

New Jersey Division of Taxation
PO Box 283
Trenton, NJ 08695-0283

Make your check payable to: State of New Jersey
Important. Be sure to include the following information on the memo line:

  • The Social Security number, Federal Employer Identification number, or DLN;
  • The tax type; and
  • The tax year.

Example: Memo XXX-XX-XXXX Individual Income Tax 2016

Or you can make payments online.

We will continue to add interest to your unpaid balance. You will still be subject to all set-off programs until the debt is paid in full. Set-off programs allow the State to apply your refunds, property tax relief, and other government benefits to pay off debt you may owe such as unpaid child support, motor vehicle fines, and public defender fees.
