The State of New Jersey, in collaboration with the WSCA-NASPO Cooperative Purchasing Organization, is working on creating a multi-state cooperative contract for child safety seats. State agencies use these child safety seats to both transport children in their vehicles and also provide them to foster parents and others to transport children who have been in a state’s custody. Currently the states of Connecticut, New Jersey, South Dakota and Utah are involved in creating the contract. The contract would, once awarded, be available for use by all 50 states, the District of Columbia, and the five organized territories, and local governmental units and other eligible entities.

On April 25, 2013 beginning at 9:30 am there will be an Industry Meeting at the Marriott Trenton Downtown. There will be two parts to the meeting, a morning session (9:30 am to Noon) which will cover the overarching specifications for the potential contract and on questions about the seats themselves and an afternoon session (1:30 pm to 4:00 pm) which will cover cooperative contracting, the WSCA-NASPO cooperative process and how the contracts will operate and be managed.

You are invited to attend, we would recommend that you bring your contracting staff, along with marketing and contract management staff. There will be an opportunity to ask questions at the meeting, but generally we anticipate that you will submit written comments to us within two weeks of the meeting.

We understand that working with a cooperative the size of WSCA-NASPO may be new to you, in Calendar Year 2012, WSCA-NASPO had $8.5 billion dollars in sales through its 60 plus cooperative contracts, so hope this session will help you understand the breadth and opportunities represented by this new contract.

If you have any specific questions about the meeting, you may contact Paul Stembler, WSCA-NASPO Cooperative Development Coordinator, at pstembler@amrms.com or at 651-206-3858.
